SAMSUNG 32-Inch Odyssey G5 Gaming Monitor with 1000R Curved Screen, 144Hz, 1ms, FreeSync Premium, QHD (LC32G55TQWNXZA), Black

Curved Screen Gaming Monitor such as the Samsung Odyssey G5 are no gimmick. These wraparound screens are simply the best door to drench in the gaming scene without the requirement for awkward headsets.

The Samsung Odyssey variant that we are reviewing is a 32-inch iteration of the base series (model LC32G55TQWNXZA), adding curved gaming technology even further. It is the first monitor with a 1000R curve, which finally matches the natural curvature of the human eye. It is superb at its finest.

It is a 32-inch panel with 1440p resolution, 1ms response time, and 144Hz refresh rate. This is definitely a unique gaming monitor, with AMD premium support and a less-than-competitive price, with the Samsung Odyssey G5 doing nothing to prove its progress… it works.

Summary

Technical Details

Design

In styling the Curved Screen Gaming Monitor Odyssey G5, Samsung focused on gamer aesthetics by incorporating two small LED lights on the front, an illuminated Samsung ‘logo in the middle nuts a ring around a straight base attachment. The colours and effects are controlled via OSD or you can turn it off completely.

The bezels around the screen are 9mm thick, not the most slender, with the decision being the AOC CQ32G1 and the Bezel-less plan brandishing C355W-3440UN. When you reach below the logo, you get an OSD joystick that controls all monitor functions.

The styling continues at the back with a host of ribbed lines smoothly which increases the curvature of the monitor. You don’t see any straight edge anywhere with the spindle ring seeming to be in motion with modern textures. Once you install the input cover and move your cables upwards, the monitor adopts a super-clean appearance.

However, the stand is strong, slightly staggered at the pivot point, but this is nothing unusual for a large panel. Adjustments include a 4.7-inch height, 15-degree and 9/13-degree tilt on either side and a portrait mode. We’re not sure how someone would use a 1000R monitor in portrait mode, but if you think of any reason, this is one of those screens that can do it.

OSD Features & Calibration

Samsung incorporated its gaming style OSD into the 32-inch Odyssey G5. At the top, you can always see the black equalizer setting, the response time (overdrive), refresh rate, adaptive-sync (supports G-sync or Free Skin) and the following input interval settings. All options come with six sub-menus.

Out of the box, the Samsung LC32G55TQWNXZA sets in its custom image mode, with all image controls intact. Even with a few turns, you can’t really improve the already excellent picture quality and accuracy. Probably, the only thing you can change is the sharpness slider, which you may have to reduce so much to remove the slight ringing effect of the monitor. In HDR mode, you can adjust the brightness, perhaps maximize it and set local dimming to auto for an excellent HDR image.

All ports are located at the back – an HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3.0 (for service) and a 3.5mm audio jack that accommodates headphones or powered speakers. The gaming monitor does not have a built-in speaker.

Gaming Performance

The extreme curve of the Samsung Odyssey G5 is an important asset, not only when it comes to gaming, but also for general use. While a screen with a 21: 9 or 32: 9 cover will cover the user’s peripheral vision, even more, the height of a 32-inch monitor really brings you closer, providing a natural view of the workday tasks. You can place the document on the centre screen, balancing the utilities from the side. In fact, you can see an entire page in 60 rows of a word processor or spreadsheet.

For gaming, you’ll hardly find a fault with the gaming performance of the 32-inch Odyssey G5. Both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility work equally well, running at 144Hz with HDR via DisplayPort input. The Tomb Raider hits 139 fps (fps) per second with a sustained speed of around 135 fps. For that, add a super-quick board reaction and you have smooth movements and information slack totally liberated from ancient rarities. This other sibling, the Samsung Odyssey G7 at maximum 240 Hz frame rates, and on both monitors, that extra height really pulls you into the game.

When you attach HDR, you get a rare cure. Samsung’s super bent screen does HDR truly well, with powerful particular diminishing. You may not easily see a light level change in behaviour, but you will definitely see an additional dynamic range. Its blacks are very deep and well detailed and pop highlights for high peak brightness. Frame rate in Call of Duty: WII decreased slightly during testing due to the additional HDR processing load. However, the speed remained around 129fps, with peaks at 132fps.

Our Rating | Excellent

The 32-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 (LC32G55TQWNXZA) is designed primarily as a gaming monitor, however, once some days of conversation, you’ll are aware of it a lot of versatile than a typical ultra-screen.

Pros
  • Excellent colour reproduction
  • good design
  • The great curve for gaming immersion
  • Fast 144Hz refresh rate
Cons
  • Low static contrast performance

Conclusion

The 32-inch Curved Screen Gaming Monitor Odyssey G5 is designed primarily as a gaming monitor, however when many days of conversation, you’ll notice it additional versatile than a typical Ultrawide screen. And its extreme curve is reduced only by immersive gaming or productivity experiences.

If you are looking for a bigger screen, the Samsung Odyssey G5 will easily stimulate your view and enhance your gaming experience. It is a rare 1000R curve rock and its gorgeous height immerses you in a gaming environment, and the 1440p resolution offers great detail and high frame rates.

Samsung’s listing price is very decent for what you get. And, with performance that actually rivals the fastest monitors we’ve tested and also the image quality that rivals premium gaming monitors, the 32-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 (LC32G55TQWNXZA) is in an exceedingly class of its own. It is indeed a monitor of extremes, but the most important fact is that it is an incredibly good monitor in all respects.
